PocketNow has posted a photo that is according to them was taken by an iPhone 5. According to PocketNow this photo that is claimed to be taken by an iPhone 4′s camera and has resolution of 2235×2291 (or 5.12 megapixel) was originally taken by an iPhone 5 and originally featured 3264×2448 resolution (or 8 megapixel) before it was cropped to 2235×2291 by the person who uploaded it on Flickr.

Evan Blass for PocketNow writes

This (very attractive) photo claims to have been taken by an iPhone 4, but the rest of its EXIF data tells a different story: although the image has been cropped to 2235×2291 (5.12 megapixels), the original picture was a much larger 3264×2448 — or just shy of eight megapixels. What’s more, the lens was recorded as a 4.3mm f/2.4, which is closer to that of a point-and-shoot than the iPhone 4′s actual 3.85mm f/2.8. (Remember that the upcoming HTC Runnymede is said to have an aperture of f/2.2.)

As noted by MacRumors and much to our surprise the person who uploaded this photo on Flickr is Anton D’Auria, who is an Apple Software Engineer working on Safari and WebKit for iOS.

9To5Mac points out that according to this image’s EXIF Data this image was taken at One Infinite Loop (that happens to be the location of Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino).

Apple is expected to release iPhone 5 in October that is going to feature a Dual Core processor, more RAM, an eight-megapixel camera, and much more.

Original photo with full EXIF data can be found here.

You know Facebook isn’t good at hiding secrets in the codes of their apps, they recently leaked their dedicated iPad app that was hidden inside the code of their iPhone app. Now they have done the same thing with this newly released Facebook Messenger app that contains certain codes and images that are pointing towards the possible release of video conferencing feature for this app in the future.

This feature could be the result of their deal with Skype, that has brought similar feature to their website on PCs. 9To5Mac, who discovered the code say that the code looks very rudimentary at this point and it is very unlikely that this feature could be enabled by a simple hack like this one. Similar feature has been found by a site called HowToArena in the code of Android version of the same application.

A MacRumors forum member ‘guigsh’ has posted an image that he claims to be of an original iPhone 5. The forum member who posted the image above says that the picture was taken yesterday in the office of a French operator. In another post on MacRumors forum guigsh says that they were only able to see the device for 2 minutes and as they were not allowed, they somehow managed to take a shot of the device.

He says that he only wanted to share what he saw with the Mac community. He adds that his iPhone 4 now looks very slow after using the newer device.

we were able to see it only 2 minutes, pictures forbidden of course, so, we did our best.

I just want to share this with the mac community, now trust me or not

The only thing I can tell you, is that my iPhone 4 looks really slow now ^^ !

As you can see in the image above, the device looks slimmer than the iPhone 4 just like it has been reported by TheiLoop several times over the last few months. It also looks similar to the iPhone 5 clone we reported about a few days ago.

Update: Its a fake! As pointed out by Gizmodo this image was actually tweeted by @Rob1p who created this just for fun. This is what he tweeted yesterday…

Une photo comme ça pourrait rendre des sites fous… #iPhone5 http://yfrog.com/khvnep

In English: “A picture like that could make fools of sites…”

According to report by BGR Apple will launch its much awaited iPhone 5 in October in Canada. This information was revealed to BGR by a ‘reliable source’ in Canadian carrier Telus. According to this tip the iPhone 5 will be released in Canada on 1st October, 2011.

BGR says that they have actually seen an internal Telus document that lists the October 1st date for the iPhone launch.

The document lists additional launch dates that are not placeholders — several of the listed dates line up with what we’re hearing from other trusted sources

Historically Apple has never released a new iPhone on a Saturday, instead they release their new phone on a Thursday or Friday. Although their source has indicated that Saturday is the busiest day for wireless retail stores but the probability of the release of iPhone 5 on a Saturday is not unrealistic.

The phone in the man’s hand in the image above could be an iPhone 5. 9to5Mac has posted the image above which has been sent to them by a tipster from San Fransisco. The tipster claims that the device in that man’s hand is what he has never seen before and suggests that it could be the next generation Apple iPhone.

Here’s the full story, 9to5Mac’s tipster was returning home and on his way he saw a man who was likely an Apple employee playing with his iPhone 5 while going home from work. The tipster took a good look at the device and was convinced that it could not be a current Apple device and he has spotted something substantial. He then took out his camera and shot a few images of the man and his phone, but unfortunately he was not able to take a detailed shot of the device because the man using it was trying his best to hide the silver shinning Apple logo at its back.

Here’s what the tipster has to say about the device he spotted on his way

“Almost EVO-like” in screen size, this iPhone also appears thinner than the current iPhone 4 but also wider. The edges are rounded metal like the edges of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 but could still function as an antenna. The back is a curved/tapered glass or plastic. He couldn’t tell but if he had to guess he’d say glass. He said it looked too amazing to be built by anyone besides Apple (fanboy!).

He says that the device featured thinner design but had a larger screen. The back of the device was made of curved glass or plastic (he couldn’t confirm). He also noted that the device he saw could easily fit in one of these cases.

Alhtough nothing can be said about the legitimacy of this story, but we know that Apple tests its new hardware in the real world before releasing it because that was the reason behind the leaking of iPhone 4 by an Apple engineer Gray Powell last year.

[9to5Mac]

This purported cheap iPhone 4 in the images looks almost similar to the current iPhone 4, the only notable difference in this new model is that it features plastic sheets at front and at the back of it instead of glass.

Some other information that you want to transfer to you is that this machine seems to run faster than the iPhone 4, lighter weight and two glass front and back seem to have been replaced by two plastic sheets, type of sensation and cry other than the iPhone 4. (Transation)

The website behind this leak is a well known source when it comes to leaks of unannounced Apple products and they say that they have received this information “from a very reliable source”, but despite all that i am a bit skeptical about it as we should not ignore the possibility that it could be the real ‘current’ iPhone 4 with a conversion kit on it.

As a Twitter user @iawa2k tweeted the following

@TechCrunch @johnbiggs No this is an iPhone 4 with an ebay’d white conversion kit as it looks like mine did with the xxxxx for model number

Here is the back of this purported cheaper white iPhone 4.

Folks at 9to5Mac have gotten their hands on a silicone case that is designed for Apple’s upcoming and yet to be announced iPhone 5. The case suggests that the next Apple iPhone will feature a thinner iPod touch 4 Generation like design. 9to5Mac says that they cannot confirm on which information the design of this alleged iPhone 5 case is based, they don’t know whether its design is based on real iPhone 5 design or it is rendered on information about a prototype of the next gen iPhone.

Another site MobileFun posted the above image earlier saying that this image is an iPhone 5 case schematic. This case looks very similar to the case revealed by 9to5Mac (see the first image of this post). According to this image, iPhone 5 will have a slightly curved back, a larger edge-to-edge display, and surprisingly a larger home button than the current iPhone lineup.

Facebook for iPad that was sitting inside the iPhone app has been exposed by TechCrunch. Facebook is yet to release the iPad app and TechCrunch has confirmed that this is how it would look like. The app that was discovered in Facebook’s iPhone app code is executable, and TechCrunch’s MG Siegler has actually used the app on his iPad and posted a full gallery of screenshots from the app here.

All of this is possible apparently thanks to a seemingly tiny update Facebook pushed yesterday to their iPhone app. Version 3.4.4 seemed like a small version that restored the “Send” button for comments and chat among a few other little things. Facebook may have even pushed it out in response to some backlash they had been getting about the app, as Financial Times covered a few days ago. Perhaps it was the rush to fix some of those issues that caused Facebook to push this version – which will clearly eventually be Universal Binary (meaning it will house both the iPhone and iPad versions of the app) – with the iPad elements inside. Whatever the case, the app is carrying a payload of much greater importance than some bug fixes.

An iOS enthusiast from Canada recommends the following method for those who want to get their hands on the unreleased iPad Facebook app

If you change the UIDeviceFamily to 2 for iPhone on the Facebook app you get an iPad version! http://t.co/wlCgGJthttp://t.co/CUwYS3R (Source)

There are still no reports about when Facebook will release this iPad app to public, but meanwhile if you want to try this app on your own iPad then follow this handy guide by iClarified here.

Apple.pro has posted images of a purported iPad 3 part. We cannot say anything about whether these images are legitimate or not but this Taiwanese site has a history of leaking legitimate parts of unannounced Apple products.

This purported part reveal that the next generation iPad will come in white color as well just like the current one. This part in the image above (and after the break) is of a new connector cable that is said to be used in iPad 3 (or iPad HD) expected to come later this year. Apple.pro’s component is labeled “821-1259-06? while the similar connector in the iPad 2 is labeled “821-1180-A.

If true, this is a great news for iPad 2 owners. A jailbreak for iPad 2 running iOS 4.3.3 has been leaked in the wild and is available for download to those who want to risk their iPad 2 and try this unofficial release. This release of the jailbreak, also called JailbreakMe 3.0 is available online and is reportedly leaked by a beta tester.

We have not tried this yet, and we won’t encourage you to do so too and wait for the official release. This is the link to the jailbreak website (www.ipad2jailbreakpdf.weebly.com) i.e hosted on weebly and there’s an alternate link in the video description as well if the one mentioned does not work. This PDF jailbreak method was first implemented by @Comex and he has been working again on similar project to jailbreak iPad 2 but we still have to hear from him about this leak.

Update: According to the image by a RedmondPie reader, it seems that this jailbreak actually works.

UPDATE 1: Confirmed! This actually works. The following image, courtesy of our reader Chris De Jager, shows Cydia 1.1.2 running on iPad 2, iOS 4.3.
