As discovered by 9to5Mac, Apple’s iOS 5 includes a feature that will allow iDevices to display earthquake warning notification to  users. This warning will be delivered to iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad users from seconds to one or two minutes before the earthquake hits their city. Japan has one of the most advanced earthquake warning system in the World, and this feature in iOS 5 will take information that warning system and inform the user about the incoming earthquake so that he or she could move to a safer place.

A new feature found in iOS 5 beta 3 by TiPB is that Airplay is now activated for FaceTime video calls too, that means you can now stream your FaceTime calls to your Apple TV with touch of a button.

The ability to easily start a video call and beam it onto the big screen is compelling. Whether it’s grandpa and grandma, or the team in England, it takes FaceTime from a small, personal experience to a big, group experience at the touch of a button.

This feature definitely takes FaceTime to the next level, we really hope that Apple includes this in the final version of iOS 5.

iOS 5 undoubtedly is the biggest update to iOS that brings so many features to the operating system. Another feature Apple brought in iOS 5 is that it now enables home screen web apps to take full advantage of Nitro Javascript found in Mobile Safari. It has turned out that it was an error that prevented home screen web apps to take advantage of Nitro Javascript in Safari that was introduced in iOS 4.3.

This is probably breaking my NDA to say this, but yes, they did. Web.app now has the “dynamic-codesigning” entitlement, which enables Nitro. (Source)

Now when iOS 5 becomes available in the fall, your home screen web apps will be able to take full advantage of Nitro Javascript…Nice
