Wow! This is super exciting. One of the attendees has posted this image on Twitter pointing out a secret banner that Apple wants to hide until the keynote. What could it be for? Some new product we have not even heard about? An iPhone 5? or may be a glimpse of iOS 5? We will know in about an hour.

It has been finally confirmed that Steve Jobs will kick off this year’s WWDC conference with his typical keynote. As now we know that who is going to be the star of the day on 6 June, the other thing that comes to our minds is that what is Steve Jobs going to announce in his “One more thing” segment. One More thing has become a trademark style thing for Steve Jobs’ keynotes where he announces something no one has expected or imagined about.

Apple has already revealed that it is going to announce iOS 5, Mac OS X Lion, and “an upcoming cloud service” called the iCloud.

Apple® CEO Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS® X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®; and iCloud®, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.

These three things are now obvious and everyone knew that they will be announced at WWDC 2011 after all. So whats left?

Whats left is the hardware, everything mentioned above is software related stuff and we know Apple is not just a software company, and it creates some of the best hardware products in the World. So what would it be? A new iPod Nano? A new MacBook Air? An iMac? MacBook Pro’s? or may be an iPhone!

We know it is very unlikely that we could see an next-gen iPhone release at this year’s WWDC after all those reports about its delay. But what we should not forget is that those reports were based on rumors, speculations, and unofficial information after all. And we also cannot deny the fact that Apple might reveal its new iPhone at the event and release it in September like it has been claimed in those reports.

I know i am letting my imagination run wild here but there’s nothing that is impossible in this world and who knows Apple decides to reveal its next iPhone because it carries the same design that is tweaked a little bit and carries better specs. That won’t harm them because no one can copy the obvious…Right?

What do you think?

According to Loopinsight, Apple won’t release any hardware this year, at least not at WWDC 2011. Apple is said to only focus on software this year and will only preview the future of iOS for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, and Mac OS X for Macs.

Apple has always revealed its new iPhone at WWDC but this year seems to be an exception according to The Loop. The Loop has quoted Gartner analyst Michael Gartenberg who says

“You get caught up in patterns, and it holds true, until it doesn’t,” Gartenberg told The Loop. “There is no reason for Apple to follow a predictable yearly pattern, and it keeps their competition off guard a little bit.”

I am not satisfied with this statement and i think Apple will reveal a new iPhone like it always does at WWDC, only time will tell. We will let you know as this story develops.

Update: Damn! AllthingsD also reports that iPhone might miss this year’s WWDC. (Read)

If you’d been hoping to see some new hardware at Apple’s 2011 Worldwide Developers Conference, you might want to recalibrate your expectations.

Apple is going to announce the next iteration of its highly successful tablet today. The event will start at 10 AM PST and we are more than excited about it. Apple is of course, going to announce iPad 2 with a thinner and lighter design, higher processor (probably 1.2 GHz+), more RAM, and front and rear cameras.

What else could be there at the event that we don’t know about? We have already heard rumors news about MobileMe overhaul and Apple’s own social networking service for iOS devices and they could be on tray today.

Apple could also preview iOS 5 for us, we know that is unlikely to happen but who knows what Apple has in store for us.

And there might be one more thing at the event that we can’t say anything about, and that is Apple CEO Steve Jobs himself. He is on a leave these days and if he showed up at the event then it is going to be a big and pleasant surprise for his fans. Event timings after the break

Yesterday at HP’s Think Beyond event former Palm CEO Jon Rubenstein while introducing HP’s new mobile phones (HP Pre 3 and super tiny HP Veer) and an iPad look alike tablet TouchPad displayed an image that represented a poll conducted by Laptop Magazine’s OS Bowl boasting, “Yesterday, Laptop Magazine voted us the champion of the OS Bowl.”.

Frankly i am unable to understand that on what bases webOS was crowned the ‘Champion OS’ despite having the smallest market share, and was able to beat the bigger and much more popular players such as iOS and Android.

According to an analyst, who sees Verizon favoring Apple and iPhone in its marketing instead of Android-based devices by Motorola and others.

Shaw Wu, who is an analyst with Kaufman Bros., said in a note to investors on Wednesday that Verizon plans to put “marketing muscle” firmly behind the iPhone, noting that Verizon is “already highlighting the iPhone 4 and the iPad as flagship products with not much else in sight.” – That means less advertisements, promotions, and campaigns for Android and more for iPhone.

Analysts are also saying that iPhone’s coming to Verizon is a “first true test” for Android and Android device makers because previously iPhone has been accused of being on only one carrier. Verizon that currently has 93 million users will add 9-12 million new users this year thanks to Apple iPhone.

Well you know folks, those reports of antenna redesign and leaked videos were true, Verizon’s recently announced iPhone 4 has a different antenna design than AT&T’s iPhone 4. As you can see in the image, right above the Facetime camera you will see a cut mark in the AT&T iPhone 4 but that’s missing in the Verizon’s version of the iPhone 4. Verizon’s iPhone 4 is a CDMA device where as AT&T has a GSM device so Apple had to redesign the device’s antenna to work on CDMA network.

Update: We didn’t notice the side cuts at first look, see the cut at the power button side

Verizon announced the advent of the new phone on its carrier network, the announcement was made by Verizon President Lowell McAdam in the presence of Apple COO Tim Cook in New York. Verizon President said that “Today we’re partnering with a giant of the industry, and that’s Apple.” Tim Cook said that now their customers have choice calling Verizon the nation’s most reliable network.

“Tens of millions of customers have purchased the iPhone around the world. Customers have downloaded billions of apps. I am incredibly happy, and I can tell you all of Apple, is very very excited to bring the iPhone to Verizon’s customers.” said Apple COO Tim Cook

“We’re incredibly pleased to give Verizon’s customers the choice we’ve been waiting for. We’ve designed an iPhone 4 which connects to the CDMA network — and it has all the features that you’d expect. Like FaceTime. Features like Apple’s stunning Retina Display.”

“5 megapixel camera, HD video… the custom A4 chip. But most importantly, it provides an integrated customer experience that’s far beyond what anyone else is providing. From iOS, to iTunes, to the App Store — they’re all designed to work together.”
