Have you ever wondered that how Apple’s Smart Cover sticks to the iPad 2 at the right place? If yes then here’s the answer. Smart Cover for iPad 2 contains a total of 21 magnets inside it. These magnets are inserted in the fabric intelligently so that the cover auto aligns itself on the tablet. Interestingly iPad 2 also contains a set of 10 magnets inside it that helps in holding the case and align it correctly.

Smart Cover also opens and shuts the iPad 2′s display when the case is lifted or dropped, how does that happen? That’s simple too, iPad 2 has a sensor that detects the round magnet in the cover so when the cover is lifted, it detects the movement and opens the display lights, and when the magnet touches the surface of the iPad it turns the display off.

The stand in the Smart Cover that helps in converting the Smart Cover into a smart stand also contains 15 magnets that help in holding the device and keep it stable.
