Apple is expected to refresh its MacBook Air lineup and introduce MacBook Airs with Intel’s Sandy Bridge platform. Those customers who are interested in buying these notebooks from Apple are restraining themselves and are waiting for Apple to release the refreshed versions so that they don’t end up buying a notebook from last year instead of newer one. There have been multiple reports about Apple releasing the updated MacBook Airs in June but that didn’t happen.

Now the word on the street is that Apple will release the Sandy Bridge equipped MacBook Airs in mid-July and those will come with OS X Lion pre-installed in them.

AppleNApps now reports the following

“Sources have indicated to AppleNApps that Apple has an internal launch date of July 19th for Mac OS X Lion and a refresh of the MacBook Airs. This is the target date under which the company is currently operating, though both sources are indicating that things can change. Our sources have just seen indications, and can’t be entirely certain, but if everything goes according to plan there will be a new MacBook Air shipping with Lion starting July 19th.”

Although the date mentioned by AppleNApps cannot be confirmed, but mid July release seems very likely, because Apple is also expected to release the Lion update for Macs in mid July too.

9To5Mac also reports that mid July release for MacBook Airs is very likely and Apple will also release the Lion update during that span of time. According to their report, MacBook Airs will have Lion pre-installed and externally look like the 2010 model of Airs. You won’t be able to tell the difference between the new and the older models, the only difference would be the Thunderbolt logo on the newer one’s.

Another interesting thing pointed out by 9To5Mac is the following

Also, Apple is holding their financial results conference call on Tuesday, July 19th. Apple typically releases products during the days leading up to the financial results announcement (so they have something interesting to talk about). iPhones and iPads often are released the Friday before earnings, which would be the 15th.

We will be posting more about the MacBook Airs’ refresh and their release here, so stay tuned.
