When compared to overall mobile searches received by world’s largest search engine Google, 2/3rd is a huge number. Something Android could not out do even with its immense growth.

Worth mentioning here is that millions of devices from other platforms are also in that 1/3rd area alongside Android devices. This information was revealed by Suzanne Michel, who is an Google employee during Senate Judiciary hearings today when she was under oath.

iPhone Dev-Team has just released an updated version of their popular RedSn0w tool that brings several new features to the jailbreaking application. RedSn0w 0.9.9b1 allows users to jailbreak their devices without the need of IPSW file on their computers. It fetches publicly available IPSWs from Apple and caches those pieces for future use. Many other features have also been added to this popular tool, more details after the break.

RedSn0w 0.9.9b1 is now available for download for Mac and Windows.

uses DFU mode to try to automatically determine which device and FW you have

fetches pieces of public IPSWs from Apple (once). Non-public IPSWs must be provided manually (once). It then caches those pieces for future use.

“Just boot” is a tethered boot. Uses whatever “Preferences” you’ve set for boot logo and kernel boot-args

“Pwned DFU” puts your device in a pwned DFU state for some of the iTunes stuff detailed below

“Recovery fix” gets past 1015 types of errors (when baseband portion of restore fails). Should work on iOS5 beta too

“Select IPSW” is for picking non-public IPSWs, or overriding auto-detection

“SHSH blobs” has a bunch of options…

“Fetch” – fetch current PARTIAL blobs on device. Should complete in under 10 or 15 seconds. Puts the set of PARTIAL of blobs on your computer as a plist. Checks if Cydia already has a full set for this device and build. If not, it submits this PARTIAL set and returns Cydia’s acknowledgement or rejection

“Verify” – cryptographically verifies existing blob files from either redsn0w, TinyUmbrella, or Cydia server. You can select a whole bunch of blobs to verify at once if you want (like the TinyUmbrella directory)

“Submit” – both verifies and submits one or more blob files to Cydia. This lets you copy your entire TinyUmbrella cache of blobs up to the Cydia server

“Query” - queries the Cydia server for all available FULL or PARTIAL blobs for a given set of ECIDs

“Stitch” – stitches either FULL or PARTIAL blobs to a STOCK or CUSTOM IPSW

Google recently launched a new web app for its Google Music beta service. The web app allows iOS users to listen to music by signing into their Google Music accounts. Google Music is still an invite based service and is only available to US users at the moment. Previously on iOS devices, the full web version used to open when users pointed their browsers to music.google.com but that has changed now and now users see a nice web app especially designed for their devices.

The web app features a sleek design that is a perfect example of simplicity at its best (something Google is not best known for). You can browse your songs by artist, album, genre, or playlist. As TNW notes, the app also works in the background and users can control the volume with external keys of their devices.

You can try Google Music’s new web app for iOS if you have an account by pointing your browser to http://Music.Google.com

A recently released Cydia tweak called IAP cracker allows users to download In-App purchases for free. This tweak cracks in-app purchases as long as the app doesn’t check the purchase with the iTunes server. This tweak does not enable all in-app purchases automatically and it does not even work on many App Store applications. You have to buy/steal the In-App purchase like you would normally do.

I tested it personally and it worked on many apps that i am not going to name here because we are totally against any type of App piracy and i decided to report this news just because this is an unusual hack that we don’t see everyday and we would like Apple to fix this issue as soon as possible.

IAP is available in Cydia Store under Insanelyi and xsellize repositories for free.

Disclaimer: We do not recommend this tweak to anyone as In-App purchases are a major source of income for many developers who put a lot of work in creating awesome apps that we know and love. We are not responsible if this tweak does not work for you and you wasted your money in trying to steal the In-App purchases for your own pleasure.

Steve Jobs before his resignation as Apple CEO presented the plan of Apple building a second campus in Cupertino that he termed as a ‘Spaceship’. The 176-acre new campus can house 12,000 plus Apple employees and will feature a 25,000 square-foot fitness center, an auditorium with 1000 seats, a “striking cafe”, large parking spaces, and five research buildings. And worth mentioning here is that the new campus will be larger than the already huge Pentagon building.

Now we are hearing from the mayor of the city that building a second campus isn’t all Apple has planned for itself. Mr Wong says that Apple executives have told him that considering how fast Apple is expanding they expect that they would have to start working on a third campus that is termed as Apple Campus 3 after finishing the second one in the year 2015.

Wong said Apple executives have told him the company is expanding so fast that it expects to start working on Apple Campus 3 at an unknown location after they finish the second headquarters in 2015.

Mr Wong said the following in an interview to Mercury News

“I think it makes sense to call it Apple 2,” Mayor Gilbert Wong said Wednesday. “They have iPad 1 and iPad 2; iPhone 1 and iPhone 2. This building is probably going to have much more innovative technologies and products than what they have at” their first campus, also in Cupertino.

Mercury News offers the following insights about the new Apple campus.

Apple’s new campus, by the numbers
13,000 employees
176 acres over six properties
10,500 parking spots
1,000-seat auditorium
25,000-square-foot fitness center
300,000 square feet of research facilities
57-foot high at its peak

If you want to know more about Apple’s plans, you can view a live stream of the hearing that will take place tonight at this webcast link cupertino.org/webcast – between 6:30 to 8:30 EST.

PocketNow has posted a photo that is according to them was taken by an iPhone 5. According to PocketNow this photo that is claimed to be taken by an iPhone 4′s camera and has resolution of 2235×2291 (or 5.12 megapixel) was originally taken by an iPhone 5 and originally featured 3264×2448 resolution (or 8 megapixel) before it was cropped to 2235×2291 by the person who uploaded it on Flickr.

Evan Blass for PocketNow writes

This (very attractive) photo claims to have been taken by an iPhone 4, but the rest of its EXIF data tells a different story: although the image has been cropped to 2235×2291 (5.12 megapixels), the original picture was a much larger 3264×2448 — or just shy of eight megapixels. What’s more, the lens was recorded as a 4.3mm f/2.4, which is closer to that of a point-and-shoot than the iPhone 4′s actual 3.85mm f/2.8. (Remember that the upcoming HTC Runnymede is said to have an aperture of f/2.2.)

As noted by MacRumors and much to our surprise the person who uploaded this photo on Flickr is Anton D’Auria, who is an Apple Software Engineer working on Safari and WebKit for iOS.

9To5Mac points out that according to this image’s EXIF Data this image was taken at One Infinite Loop (that happens to be the location of Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino).

Apple is expected to release iPhone 5 in October that is going to feature a Dual Core processor, more RAM, an eight-megapixel camera, and much more.

Original photo with full EXIF data can be found here.

Verizon Wireless has aired a new ad to promote its 3G network and the ad features Apple iPad 2 in it. Like usual Verizon ads this one too focuses on how reliable Verizon’s 3G network is on the iPad by using which users can download iBooks and use Twitter even when they are miles away from the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot. This is so far the first ad for iPad 2 that has been made by someone other than Apple itself, and i think they have done a pretty decent job with this one.

After a long time Facebook for iPhone and iPod touch has finally received a major update in the version 3.5. This update brings several new features and bug fixes to the native Facebook application. Most important of all new features is that Facebook app now allows users to tag friends and places in your posts. You can also share external links from the web view of the app and a new design for profile and group walls has been added to the app too.

Facebook has also improved the sharing tool that now adds privacy controls for your posts. Once you make changes to your settings, those changes are automatically updated on Facebook’s website too, and vice versa.

Here is the change log for this 3.5 version of Facebook app:

Made it easier to share with who you want
- Added the ability to tag friends and places in posts
- Added the ability to share external links from a web view
- Added new design for Profile and Group Walls
- Improved the sharing tool to add privacy controls on posts and match your settings on the web site

Improvements and bug fixes:
- Improved Notifications speed
- Fixed a number of Chat bugs
- Made it easier to select filters in News Feed
- Fixed a bug with the Notifications bar disappearing
- Fixed a number of Photos bugs
- Improved performance and stability overall

As noted by @Chpwn, Facebook has removed the elements of Facebook for iPad from this app, so after updating iPad users won’t be able to use that version of the application even with FaceForward Cydia Tweak. So if you want to keep on using the iPad version of Facebook app, stay away from this update. Facebook is expected to release the iPad version of Facebook very soon.

Facebook app for iPhone and iPod touch can be downloaded from the App Store for free here
