According to an estimate Apple has sold 8.25 million iPads up to this date and if the pace of iPad sales continues it will soon pass DVD players and will poise 4th largest consumer electric category. If the iPad sales keep up this momentum then the iPad will pass gaming hardware and the cellular phone with estimated sales of more than $9 billion in the U.S. next year.
According to Bernstein it took DVD players a time of 5 years to reach the unit sales pace that the iPad has reached in just its first quarter.
Bernstein’s McGranahan who covers Best Buy says that iPad is not only a threat to similar products but could also leave an impact on sales of TVs and digital cameras!
