WinRumors today performed a test to check the HTML5 browser speed of iOS 5 beta1′s Safari, and the results were opposite of what they were two months ago, unlike before iOS Safari performed exceptionally well. So we decided to compare the browser speed test results of iOS 4.3.3 Safari running on iPod touch 4G with Safari of iOS 5 Beta1 running on the same device. The results were unexpectedly different.

The device with iOS 4.3.3 installed struggled to even complete the test, whereas iOS 5 beta1 completed the test running the animation quite smoothly and scored 30 frames per second on average compared to 2 frames per second result of iOS 4.3.3.

iOS 4.3.3 has nitro javascript that helps Safari to load webpages faster and perform better than previous versions, but this test has revealed that iOS 5′s Safari is even better.

iOS 5 is in beta stages and will be released to public in the fall.

Note: Tests above were conducted on this Microsoft site. Although the site recognizes the device running iOS 4.3, it is actually running iOS 5 beta1.
