Here is a video i found on Youtube in which user has compared the start up times of iPhone 4 and recently announced HTC Desire HD. The video shows that HTC Desire HD starts and is ready to work in just 3 seconds whereas iPhone 4 takes up to 25-30 seconds to get ready for work when switched on.
