Here is a step by step guide on how to tether boot your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using RedSn0w . The procedure is very simple but can be little tricky if you are doing it for the first time. Booting your device is necessary if you have a tethered jailbreak in order to make Cydia and other apps to work on it. And you have to do this everytime your device reboots. Follow all the instructions to make your jailbroken device work properly.
Things you need
A Jailbroken device with a tethered jailbreak
RedSnow (Don’t download it you already have it)
iOS Firmware for your device (The same IPSW file you used to jailbreak)
Also
- PLEASE UPGRADE TO iTunes 10.1 FOR BEST RESULTS
- WINDOWS 7 USERS SHOULD RUN redsn0w IN “XP COMPATIBILITY” MODE
- Make sure you’re using a USB 2.0 port
1 ) Open RedSn0w.exe file and click on ‘Browse’ button

2 ) Now select the IPSW firmware file and click on ‘Open’

3 ) Let RedSn0w patch the firmware files (should take 5-10 seconds)

4 ) From the options only select ‘Just Boot tethered right now’ and click on next

5 ) Now make sure your device is turned off and click on ‘Next’

6 ) Now you have to put your device in DFU mode, follow the instructions on screen carefully.

RedSn0w will now prepare your device to boot (should take 5-10 seconds)
7 ) Click on ‘Finish’
Now your device will show the RedSn0w logo for some time, it should take 1-2 minutes to boot. When it boots you should be able to use Cydia and other applications on your device.

the startscreen seems to be frozen…
did the same steps as to jb it, but this time with the tetthering option crossed on… tried it multiple times, the pinapple logo is visible, but frozen for a long time
any help would be nice
Hold the home button and the power button simultaneous for sometime and then try again. If nothing works then jailbreak again
it says this usb can work faster with usb 2.0 port..so what does that mean and how shud i make the usb prot faster :S
Your device can work faster on USB 2.0 port…you have older port and you cannot make it faster, you can replace it with a faster one
Be careful when putting the device in DFU mode.
