Google in its I/O event today has announced Google Music Beta, a cloud based free  music service that will offer free 20,000 songs to the listeners. Users can also store their own music on the cloud, uploading it using Google’s Music Manager app that is available for Windows as well as Macs. The Web-based music manager is a full-featured music player that supports organization, playlist creation and a lot more. Google Music service is in beta at the moment and users can use it by invitation only. It is totally free in the beta stage and only available in the US.

This move by Google is a clear indication that it is going to compete with Apple head on in every service. Google is also expected to launch a similar service at its WWDC event in June and is rumored to integrate its cloud based music and storage service in iOS 5 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
