After a full year’s wait Android community finally got a decent tablet that can be considered a worthy competitor for iPad, it sports a revised OS and UI that is not designed for mobile phones and boosts some great specs such as Dual Core processor, 1 GB Ram, front and back cameras and more. Things were looking nice for this new Motorola Xoom tablet until we heard that it was going to cost $800 and it got worst when we heard that it is necessary for you to get a 1 month data subscription from Verizon to get your hands on this tablet and activate its Wifi feature, and if you don’t do that you won’t be having an active Wifi on this device because its locked.
As you can read in the image above it says
To activate Wifi functionality on this device, a minimum of 1 month data subscription is required.
First of all as we are hearing you cannot buy this tablet without a contract, and if you even cancel the contract you still have to pay 1 month subscription charges, although no official word on this has been issued by Verizon itself until now.
So how the hell this tablet is going to compete with the iPad? iPad is cheaper as you can get the most expensive model of iPad for around $800 and the cheapest one for around $500 without any subscriptions or contracts and it already has a huge market share and millions of loyal followers, So who is Moto targeting with this tablet? Answer: Nerds who hate the iPad?
Check out the ad Moto has made to air during this year’s Superbowl (and ofcourse it targets Apple)
