AutoDesk Inc has released AutoCad WS app for iPhone and it is now available for free at app store. The app allows you view, edit, and share your DWG™ files on the go. The app is available for iPad as well and will allow you to work on your AutoCad drawings. The app allows you to change the way you work in the field or on the road by reducing the need to carry around over-sized paper drawings. • See all aspects of your DWG file, including external references, layers, and image underlays

This would be fantastic on the iPad. As much as the iPhone is a great device, you need a microscope to view much detail on it. The larger iPad fits in most small carry bags and would be great for this sort of thing.
