nokia-n97-00

In June this year Nokia released its much awaited touch screen phone that is another inclusion to the N series family. Nokia’s N97 the phone many of us would like to get. A 5 MegaPixel , With 2592×1944 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, LED flash, video light this phone has all that it takes to be called an amazing camera phone but is it?

N97 features Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5 with an internal memory of 32 giga bytes and thats huge in my opinion. And yes it still has a SD card slot that can give you 16 GB exteral memory.

But the phone has some bads as well The S60 5th edition UI still has poor ergonomics and is not as thumbable as expected. Its does not support the Divx or Xvid. The phone has no smart dialing and Somewhat limited 3rd party software availability. Nokia N97 has a lot of competition in the market right now as a lot of companies are producing and releasing a lot of good phones such as Samsung’s Omnia HD and iPhone is always on the list of the phones to beat. Nokia still need a lot of work to be done on it user interface as its touch is not very impressive and it has small icons that are not very touch friendly.

The phone also features a slide keyboard that means its not an all time touch screen phone and the keyboard makes it a bit thick not that much but it could have been better without it. There comes a stylus with the phone that truly damages its image as an touch screen phone of today.

Heres something about its design The minute you get the Nokia N97 into your hands you will find out you are dealing with a heavy player. There is nothing amusing about weight such as 5.29 oz (150 g) and the N97 strikes as bigger, yet better made device alongside of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. As a whole, it looks pretty stylish –  a classical black variety is also on offer. The phone is mostly made of plastic parts, rather than metal, so it simply doesn’t create all the same luxurious feel, like the one you get while holding in hand any top of the range makes belonging to the business lineup of the same manufacturer, say the Nokia E66, E71 and E75. The phone doesn’t feel cheap of anything, it´s just we expected much more than a simple, chrome plated edging that is slightly protruding over the screen. It does help towards easier dragging of the scroll throughout the phone menus though.

As we mentioned at the beginning, the Nokia N97 sports 5-megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss Tessar optics and double LED flash. Its plastic cover slides pleasantly and clears collected dust particles while moving. Quite nice indeed! We are telling you more about the camera performance later on. Now, let´s get down to the OS interface of the Nokia N97. The touch interface is not that good but is quite enough for nokia as its theri first attemp on a touch sensitive phone.

This phone is priced at approximately $629
